ISBT members should contact [email protected] to receive discounted member prices on Beverage Institute courses. ISBT Member Price: $79 (Save $15!)
In this module, we’ll begin by explaining the building blocks of PET, then move into process chemistry, covering continuous and solid state polymerization. Next, we’ll jump into the main properties of PET such as thermal transitions, general characteristics, intrinsic viscosity, color, pellet shape and size, acetaldehyde generation, and the impact of copolymers. Following these topics, we'll go through the states of PET and its morphology, the impact of moisture on PET before processing, and the degradation effects of PET. And finally, we’ll dive into the crystallinity and orientation that occurs during blow molding, the strain-induced crystallinity achieved in the blow molding process, and the self-leveling characteristics of PET.
