Course Introduction

Course Description

There isn’t a course out there that actually shows you how to design with corrugated. Jane Scates, a Structural Designer pro, searched everywhere for a basic how-to-design course. She couldn’t find one. Wanting to provide a solid corrugated design course, Jane, along with the amazing team at The Packaging School, developed this course. In this course, you will learn the fundamentals of corrugated, how to identify corrugated board, and how to use it. Using the knowledge from the first unit, you will learn how to design a pad, a roll or scored sheet, a regular slotted carton (RSC), a one-piece folder (OPF), a tray, a die-cut mailer, and a tray with interlocking dividers.

Jane Scates

Structural Designer

Jane Scates is a creative through and through. Since discovering corrugated in 2013, she has dedicated herself to living and breathing all things corrugated. She currently works full time as a packaging designer in the industry. Jane loves the challenge presented by a new customer, guiding them through to what they truly want, and then helping them to achieve the best possible solution for their packaging needs. During her quest to find ways to better educate herself in corrugated design, Jane discovered that there were very few, if any, resources available to teach the very basics of design. And so, Intro to Corrugated Design was born. Jane holds a BS in Industrial Design from The Art Institute of Philadelphia. She is also a retired 20 year Air Force veteran. After retirement, she sought to find a new career that would fulfill her love of creativity. With the exciting combination of both engineering and creativity, she found Corrugated Design was her true passion.
